Need to Know Information for the June Dye Day Program

A message from Judy and Linda

Hello All,

If you want to experiment with dyeing plant fibers we will have directions and dyes for everyone to use or just come and watch!

  • If you want to dye please bring:
1 warp, 3 yards or less long, 150 ends or less, cross tied, and warp loosely tied every yard
    OR
  • 1 skein, 4 oz or less, loosely tied
    OR
  • 1 bag of fiber, 4oz or less
  • Disposable gloves
  • Plastic bag to take your project home

Plant fibers, cotton, bamboo, rayon, tencel, (silk will also work, even though it isn’t a plant)

Soak your fiber over night in water with about 1/2 cup of salt, dissolved, and a squirt or 2 of dish soap. Make sure you have enough water to cover the fiber and for it to move around (kinda like a pot of spaghetti). The fiber needs to be wet when we dye it.
