To keep track of regional class offerings, use the Guild calendar. Regional fiber organizations’ class lists are available on the calendar; just click on one of the 3 class lists (shops, guilds, festivals) which are found on the first day of each month. The Torpedo Factory offers fiber workshops, has a fiber studio, and, on the Website, a great video on how to make a felted flower. Go to http://www.theartleague.org/content/fiber_classes and scroll down to the video screen. It’s very good. However, they don’t seem to update the Webpages very often.
From the Website: “The Art League School in Old Town Alexandria, VA offers a wide variety of classes and workshops in the fiber arts, including courses in weaving, spinning, knitting, tapestry, dyeing, felting, surface design, silk painting, shibori, fiber sculpture, rug hooking and hat-making. Specialty classes focus on specific techniques. Workshops and beginning “jumpstarts” are also offered. Courses are offered year-round, during the week, weekend, day and evening, and are available for beginners as well as experienced artists!
The fiber studio boasts a large workspace with an assortment of floor looms, table looms, spinning wheels, dyeing facilities, a silk steamer, and an extensive fiber library.”
