Spring Is in the Air – Let the Thaw Begin

Hello All,

I have some information that I need to pass along.

First, it’s that time again, please send any inputs for the April newsletter to me by 30 March. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, if you know of a guild member that has not received this notification (and would like them) please have them get in touch with me so that I can get them added to the site.

Second, Keren passed along that she received a request for volunteers to demonstrate spinning & weaving at the Civil War and Emancipation Day, scheduled to take place at Chimborazo Medical Museum (3215 E. Broad Street, Richmond) on Saturday, April 7 from 10 – 4. They would be willing to pay an honorarium. If you are willing and able to participate, please contact either Keren or me and we will get you the information.

For our education and outreach opportunities, we have electronic sign-up forms that you can use for different events. If you are interested in one (or all?) of the demonstration activities, please submit your interest via this FORM.

Weather Postponement

Members, I think we are going to have to cancel our Christmas Party tomorrow because of the pending weather. I’ve heard about quite a few closings in the area and the weather reports don’t look good. I’ll be really ticked off if this turns out to be nothing, but I hate to take the chance. Let’s plan to meet next Saturday at Liberty Town at 10:00 and have our Christmas celebration then. Hope everyone can stay indoors and watch the snow safely! See you next week!☃

Baby Blankets Needed for the Military

Hi all,

From the Heart has been asked to help with a baby shower Operation Homefront is organizing. We would like if at all possible, to provide up to 100 baby blankets for military moms. These blankets need to be approximately 36″ square. Below are links to a knitted and a crocheted blanket, both of which can be made to any size. If you have a copy of the blue “It’s Magic” book, the patterns can also be found in the book.

Thanks so much,

Going Out of Business Sale

b4cc2310-e4c8-4e5f-b8cd-aa3af30957abSome of you may already know that Maranatha Alpaca Farm is going out of business. Lori spoke with Lisa about arranging a time for the guild to visit the farm stand to make some final purchases. Lisa has agreed to open the stand on Sunday, Nov 13, 2016 at 2 PM for us to come by and get our fill of everything alpaca. From yarn to alpaca sweaters, everything is 20% off right now. There may even be a few babies left for adoption.
